Pond Guys Peer Group

“The War Room” is a small group of business owners from North America and Europe who joined together in the fall of 2006. Our goal was to share our knowledge base and learn from each other’s efforts, and to derive inspiration from each other’s creativity. In general, we wanted to help each other be better people and better business owners. We meet quarterly in person, monthly for conference calls, and annually so that we may review our progress for the past year, and make new goals for the coming year.

Community Involvement

In the way of local exposure, Modern Design has been a long time Business Friend of the UT Gardens, and has created a large garden at the Dogwood Arts Festival for seven years running, having won the “Best Garden” award in 2006. John Adams has been published in “Pond Keeper”, a national magazine for pond professionals, and we have been honored with an article written about our business in H.G.T.V. magazine in 2006.

We contribute our time to the community too, and we started a plan with our peers to donate water features for war veterans in 2007, with the first feature being completed in September 2007.

We also donated a week in October 2007 to help build Victory Falls, a project for The Victory Junction Gang Camp which was set up by Kyle and Richard Petty in honor of Adam Petty. We also hold periodic pond tours to raise money for local charities such as the Friendsville United Methodist Church Mission Trip and the U.T. gardens. .
