Aquascape Incorporated – Certifications / Build-A-Pond-Days

Aquascape holds training events around the world that are designed to get contractors working hands on with leading industry installers. The staff of Modern Design did an advanced “build-a-pond” day in July 2007 with Ed Bealieu from Aquascape. (Ed has built over 1200 water features around the world). The water feature was a large pond with twin-falls and a negative-edge, wetland skimmer. We also built a pond-less waterfall with Ed a few years ago at the Smith Turf headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., and in November of 2007, helped teach an advanced class at the Smith Turf branch in Knoxville, TN.

Aquascape will only certify Contractor/Installers that have met qualifying criteria including classroom training with hands-on building. Contractors must also maintain client references including photos of each water feature they have built. Modern Design has been a Certified Aquascape Contractor since 2002.

Pondemonium – at Pheasant Run Resort in Illinois

The staff at Modern Design has attended this annual event three times. Classes are held over the course of a week, covering retail, installation practices, plants & fish, and self-improvement. The event brings in industry professionals from all over the world who are at the top of their field, and includes pond tours, wet labs, and waterfall building contests. We brought 7 employees from our organization to the event in 2007.

Water Garden Excellence

The “Water Garden Excellence” program is an open forum quarterly meeting that gives us the opportunity to network with industry leaders across the United States. Aquascape Inc. provides the teachers and speakers for this event..
