He is a business friend of the University of Tennessee Gardens, and has given instructional presentations for UT, the Dogwood Arts Festival, the Tellico Garden Club, the Sevierville Master Gardeners Club, and Popes Garden Center. He was a co-sponsor of the 2005 Parade of Ponds and has been featured on Styles, a local TV magazine, where he discussed the construction of water features. John's design team won the 2006 Dogwood Arts ‘Best Garden’ award.
